I recently purchased a new Proxim (Orinoco) combo 802.11b/g pcmcia nic for
my laptop. (Model: 8470-WD) This is replacing my existing Orinoco Gold
802.11b pcmcia nic.
No matter what I try, I cannot get the newer Proxim-Orinoco 802.11b/g pcmcia
nic to connect to my Netgear ME102 access point.
I can run Netstumbler (which I didn't think would work with a 802.11b/g
card, but it does), and it will see my AP's ESSID without any problems, but
I simply cannot get the card to connect to this AP.
I have turned off all encryption, and set everything back to the defaults on
this AP and verified all settings several times, but no matter what I do, I
cannot get these two to connect.
I can connect to other 802.11b access points without a problem. A quick
drive down my street proved that in a minute
Does anyone know if there is any compatibility issues between these two
peices of hardware? I have upgraded the ME102's firmware to the latest
1.43h quite a while ago, so I know there isn't any newer firmware that would
fix this...
Any ideas?
I was going to upgrade the access point to a newer 802.11g model anyways,
but in the meantime before I decide what new AP to purchase, I was hoping to
be able to keep using the Me102 and just use the card to 802.11b...
Thanks for any help!
