Connecting To The Net

I recently installed an Orinoco b card in my laptop for use at Borders and
several other places.
The problem is that it will connect to the Borders wireless server but it
will not allow me to go online.
My computer is running Win 98.
Is their something more I need to do to be able to go online other than
connect to the access point?
Totally new at wireless.
