connecting my laptop to my desktop-HELP

Can anyone help me ? I want to be able to connect two computers so I can
access a database on one from 'tother.Both have 10/100 capability with
appropriate plugholes. What do I need ?

you need a crossover cable (often yellow) if you're going to connect
two PCs direct without a hub in between

You need a Ethernet Crossover cable or even a USB to USB will do it.
