I have a MN700 based network which works fine. My wife
got a Dell 600M laptop with an installed Intel 2200 BG
Pro Wireless card (I have the basestation set up to work
on both B and G, as one of the adapters on a computer is
an older MN510). The new laptop can connect to the the
internet through our network and I can ping the other
computers. However, I cannot access the other computers
on the network nor use a networked printer. This computer
is in the proper workgroup, and I can see it via the BNU.
The Intel card is controlled by included Intel ProSet for
Wireless utility rather than by XP, which by the way is
on all computers (SP2 not yet installed on any). If I go
to Network Places under Internet Gateway, it lists the
internet connection as "disabled." If I right click
on "enable", nothing happens; I am still connected to the
internet, though, in spite of the fact that it is listed
as disabled. If I go to MyComputer and navigate to My
Network Places, I can drill down and get to the proper
workgroup, but if I click on the workgroup, the
following message pops up:
"Workgroup is not accessible. You might not have
permission to use this network resource. Contact the
administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions.
The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently
available."
I am logged on to an administrator account.
Does anyone have any insight into why I cannot access
other computers on the network and use a network printer?
The rest of the network works fine, file sharing is set
up. Any thoughts on how I can get this working properly?
Thanks in advance.
