Connecting MAC OSX to WIN98se

Hi all,

I've got a Win98se PC and a MAC OSX (not server).

They're both connected to the internet via an ADSL 4 ports ethernet router.
When I set one of the PC harddisks up to share, I can log in on that drive
from the MAC.
But from the PC I can not connect to the MAC. Although I know the static IP
adress of the MAC, I can't make a connection work..
That is: FTP just works great. I can send or receive from and to the MAC
sitting on the PC side.
But just opening the MAC in my PC network doesn't work.

Does anybody know how to set this up.
(NB filesharing on the MAC is ON)

thanks

Rienk

Have you enabled windows file sharing on your Mac? Check your "sharing"
preferneces. If it appears to be installed, grab a copy of Samba and run
that on your Mac. After configging it, you should be able to connect by
smb://your.Mac.ip.address

Thanks for your reply.

Yes Windows Filesharing is on.
And I manage to connect from the PC to the MAC, but then it is asking for a
password.
And I DO know the password, but the MAC refuses.
Do I have to set another password for the sharing than the password for the
user account.
And if so, where do I have to do that?

thanks
Rienk

Foud it!!!

On the MAC you have to create an user which is identical to the user with
which you logged in in Win98.
Identical is: same (small caps) login name and same password on both
machines

thanks for reading anyway
