connecting linux printer to xp

I am running redhat 9.0 on intel and have a private network with my xp
laptop. From the laptop, I can access the internet via the linux
machine. From the linux machine I run smb and can mount the xp machine.
This all works. I can transfer files to and from the linux to the xp.
What I would like to do is print from the xp using the printer that is
connected to the linux box.
I cannot figure out how to do this and my searches have produced no
usable information. Do anyone have a pointer to material that will lead
me to the correct procedure?
Thanks,
Dick Fell

It seems that You connect _to_ Your laptop from linux. Good.

But to print (or access any shares, be it files or printers) via Your
linux box, You need to have a smb server running on that linux box,
so that You can connect Your linux from that XP laptop.
The most common one is samba. There are many tutorials about how to
do that. So, "samba" is Your keyword to search the net.

Cheers, Jack.

My personal reading of the string "MicroSoft" expands to "NanoWeak"...

What print daemon are you running on SuSE? Cups or LPRNG. either way you
should be able to set up your printer on XP to do tcpip printing. When you
install your printer in XP, choose "local port", "create new port", "tcpip
port" and then point it to the IP address of your Linux box.

I know this should be fairly straightforward as my son has done it using
CUPS on a RedHat server. I'm sure it was simple or he would have called
me. He is not home right now so I can't ask him how.

I have done it myself using LPRNG which I understand is a little more
"lpr" friendly. It just worked.
