Connecting to Exchange with Linux

Is Evolution really the only client that will access MS Echange servers?

I'm running Fedora Core 2 on an MS network, and our IT department are
running an Exchange 5.5 server. I've been using IMAP for a bit, but it's
not great as I have to use sendmail to send mail and our IT policy bans
the use of port 25...

Since the Evolution connector only seems to support Exchange 2000 and up,
is there any other way I can access my email? There were rumours that
Ximian were producing an Exchange 5.5 connector a while back, but I can't
find any links to it - a posted link to a copy if it's available would be
fab!

If you want to access the 'advanced' feature of Exchange like shared
calendaring and the like yes. Otherwise you can use any mail client
and configure it for an IMAP/SMTP server. Otherwise run LookOut!
using crossover or such.
