The Windows XP warning is unavoidable in that circumstance unless you
provide a fixed IP address, since XP cannot find a DHCP server. You can
find networking "how-to" guides at sites like
http://www.wown.com/ and
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/ that will tell you how to set up the XP
and 98 sides of the network.
