Connecting Dial-Up to Wireless?

Hi there,

I would like to connect my dial up connection to a wireless router. I
don't need to share the connection, just be able to access without
being tied to a phone jack. I have a dedicated line for the
connection. I understand I will need a external modem and the
wireless PC card. Which routers so you think would work for this
application? Thank you.

Kyle

I don't know which (if any) router/wireless combinations also include
control of a modem, but there probably are some.

There are many routers which can control a modem and to which an AP can
be attached. I used a D-Link DI-704 in that configuration for a long
time before ADSL became available in my area.

Check the responses from my query, "AP with built in modem", that I
posed recently in this group. There is a device that does what you
want but it is only 802.11b.

Would any "b" PC card work with a "b" series router? Or would it be
better to match the maker of the router with the same manufacturer of
the PC card? I'm pretty certain I will need someone to help me hook
up all of this, but I need to know what kind of hardware I need.
Thanks everyone for the replies.
