Connected but it doesn't work anyway!

Hi there! I just bought a Dell Inspiron 6000. Everything works, except the
Wireless Internet. In the start it worked, but then something went wrong when
i tried to connected an old desktop to translate the old files into the new
laptop. recently i've been using an LAN-connection instead of the wireless.
The Microsoft Client says that there's a very good connection to a wireless
internet and i am connected, but somehow it doesn't work. what can I do to
make it work?
please help.
