I wouldn't ever bother trying to do that. I really don't think that
doing that will give anymore protection than what what you are getting
from the router. I think it will only cause you a pile of headaches and
put needless burden on the new PC (and your brain)! Your router is
designed to handle these security headaches and is the safest way to do
this, a simple mistake configuring the new computer to handle this could
open up a hole the size of Texas in your home network! I would just let
the router handle this, it makes it easier to control and secure
network access.
