Hi Ever one,
How can one connect to a remote computer event viewer over a fire? what
ports do I need to open? do I need to set specific port on the remote server
for the RPC? I would also like to be able to connect to the remote computer
service snap-in.

Thanks in advance

If you connect using remote desktop it doesn't matter what you are doing
on the machine. All traffic is encrypted and is not seen by the firewall.
All you need open on the firewall is tcp port 3389 for the remote desktop
connection.

THanks for the replay Bill,
i know about remote desktop, but the request from the security team is to
enable a user only access to Event viewer and the services snap-in.

thanks Oren Z

Although this should be the job of your security team to find out but
the best way to find out would be to enable logging on your firewall
for your desktop only and then try to connect to the event viewer, your
ST will know what protocols are the required to be open.
