Hi All,
I need some Help! I have a 2003 R2 Std Stand Alone Server with 11 clients
the LAN IP addresses are 192.168.19.33-192.168.19.45. I have a DSL
router/modem with dynamic IP from the phone co. I have been told to come out
of the DSL router to my LAN network switch. #1. If I do this, How Do I Setup
the Twelve Computers? #2. Can I make this secure to protect the server from
hackers?
Thanks For Your Help,

This is a very broad question.

In short, you will need to turn on the router to be an IP of
192.168.19.something

If clients are statically configured with IP's - you will need to manually
add the above IP as their default gateway, and add the ISP's DNS servers.

If Dynamically configured IP addresses, you can change these settings on
whatever device (or server) is performing the DHCP funtion.

Hope this helps,
Chris

Chris,
Thanks for your help. (Everything I read pertains to large networks with
more than one server and it gets confusing.)
My clients are statically configured. I will get the Gateway, Primary DNS,
& Secondary DNS from my ISP and setup each computer on the network.
Thanks Again I just was not sure about the next step.

No, you do not do it like that. As Chris said, there are lots of things to
consider.

The first thing is that you do not reconfigure your network to use
public IP addresses. You keep unroutable 192.168.x.y on the local LAN and
use NAT at the router to share the router's Internet connection.

You can stay with manual config but you need to understand what is going
on so that you correctly configure the DNS and default gateway settings.
Here is a sample setup (it's my home network, actually).

Internet
|
public IP
NAT device (D-Link704)
192.168.0.1
|
LAN machines (config from DHCP on the D-Link)
192.168.0.x dg 192.168.0.1 DNS ISP's DNS server

Thanks for the info. I have my LAN addressed with non routable IP's (192.168.
19.33 - 192.168.19.45)
and I will not change these IP's. I also have coming a Safe@Office 500
Firewall Appliance. This will do the same as your D-link 704. I think I now
know how to get my LAN network setup to access the internet with the 12
machines. Again I want to thank everyone for their help. I was just
stumpped.
