connect desktop appl into wifi network

Hi,

I need one wifi API for my project which is a desktop
application.Basically the
API has to do the work like finding out the access points for the user
and functions like finding out the user from the central database etc
and some calculations. If any one knows about this then pls give me
information ASAP.
