I would like two Mac computers, separated by four floors and 150 feet, to
share one Broadband Cable Internet service.
I have successfully connected, via cable, the iMac (OS9.2) on the first
floor to a Netgear MR814v2 Cable/DSL Wireless Router and connected this
router to the Cable Modem. Furthermore, I configured a Mac G4 iBook with an
Airport Card, and this notebook can now connect to this network and surf the
web anywhere within the entire first floor.
Needless to say, my little MR814 v2 is woefully under powered to wirelessly
transmit a signal that the iBook can see on the fourth floor. It is not to
much trouble to run Ethernet cable from the first to the fourth floor, I
just would like to know what device I can connect my Mr814v2 to on the forth
floor, an ME101 Wireless Ethernet Bridge, an ME103 ProSafe Wireless Access
Point ($170), or another ME814 v2 ($40)? Remember that the Mac Powerbook
with the Airport card is what I want the device to wirelessly talk to on the
fourth floor.
Regards,
Peter
