Hi!

I have to small LANs in a building (2nd floor and 6th floor) and I would
like
to connect them so they can share resources. both have a DSL-connection to
access the internet.

how can I connect these 2 LANs via WLAN ?
I read about WLAN-bridges but I dont know anything about it.

Any hints on how to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated,
thanx in advance!

best regards,
Hans Pesata

You need to just get an access point that supports bridging. Two that I know
of is the Linksys WAP11 and Netgear WG602v2. All you have to do is place two
of these devices (same model) on either lan and turn on their bridging
feature.

Also since you have dsl connections on each network make sure that the
routers from each don't interfere. In the case that both routers are in the
same subnet with the same ip address there will be a conflict. You will have
to turn one routers routing features off or move it to a different ip or
subnet. You would probably just want to replace one router with a switch and
shutdown one dsl connection.

Will the WAP54G as a router talk to a WAP54G working as a bridge?

WAP54G does not have routing capabilities it can be used as an access point,
bridge, and probably repeater, but not router. You are confusing it with
another model.

I thought about haveing all stations within the same net 192.168.0.x.
the dsl-router on the 2nd floor will be 192.168.0.1, the one on the 6th
floor will
192.68.0.2. the workstations on the 2nd floor will use 192.168.0.1 as
default gateway,
the ones on the 6th floor 192.168.0.2. so there soluldnt be any problem.

I suppose I have to configure the bridges to also use an 192.168.0.x address
?
