A Confusing Line Issue

My problem has been solved sort of but i am not sure how.
About 2 weeks ago my line pickup a crackling sound and this affected
the broadband so that i could not get more that 416kbps with SNR
figures which suggested otherwise. I never got round to reporting it
to bt untuil yesterday. Then I done all the checks again and it turns
out that maybe a corless phone may be the problem. BT closed the
report today. The broadband speeds yesterday were around 1200kbps with
the crackling on the line gone. After the report has been closed the
coreless phone is still plugged in and i get 2600kbps (My normal
speed). What could have BT done to make the speed increase. Secondly
why has the speed still gone pu with the phone plugged in?. It is the
only phone that makes the noise and there is no crackiling/noise at
the master socket , just slight noise when the phone is plugged in.

Possibly fixed a dry joint (common cause of crackling),or provisioned
a different pair (simple jumpering job).
Using a different pair can significantly affect the noise picked up
from nearby pairs in the cable.
Maybe you need a premium grade filter, or filtered faceplate.
