Configuring Linux kernel v2.6.11.12 to include iptables support

I need to configure linux kernel to include the support for iptables .I
know that the command to configure the linux kernel is make menuconfig
..
Please tell me which options to select.

Networking -> Networking options -> Network packet filtering (replaces
ipchains) -> Choose the items you want on the subcategories found
there. You are probably looking for the items found in "IP: Netfilter
Configuration".

Thanks . I did as you said and found these options :-

< > Connection tracking (required for masq/NAT)

[ ] Connection mark tracking support

< > Userspace queueing via NETLINK

< > IP tables support (required for filtering/masq/NAT)

< > ARP tables support


I would have to check both connection tracking and IP tables support [
first and second last option ] or selecting one of them would do the
job?

That depends what you want. If you want iptables, then you have to
check "IP tables support" (kind of obvious) - if you want
masqurading/NAT you also need to check "Connection tracking". Checking
more than you need will probably not do a lot of harm, but might save
you a little work later on.
