Hi,

I am new at configuring DNS servers and can't seem to get it to work. I am
attempting to test my setup by running 'nslookup' with
modifiers from teh command prompt of my DNS server.
when i am using the nslookup command:

nslookup 192.168.0.38
it displays the hostname.

but when i try to use the:
nslookup hostname
it displays an error message.
Alternatively, If i use the command
nslookup hostname.domain name
It displays the correct IP address.
Plz let me know, why?
Rajesh

man 5 resolver
Perhaps you want a domain or search parameter for your domain in
/etc/resolv.conf
