Hi,

First of all, I'm completly new to Linux.

Today I downloaded the latest release of Ubuntu Live and tried to run
it on my notebook. Everything seems to work except I cannot get access
to the network as I could not enable WPA in the UI.

Where can I turn on WPA or is this not supported by Ubuntu? In case
it's not supported is there any distro that supports configuring WPA in
the UI? To be honest I'm not a Linux geek and I don't want to become
one. I just one to configure it in the UI without fidling in some
configuration files.

Thanks!

You need to install wpa_supplicant. You can use synaptic to install the
package from the ubuntu repositories/install cd.

I use wpa_supplicant with ndiswrapper. You can find info on wpa_supplicant:

http://hostap.epitest.fi/wpa_supplicant/
