Yes, apparently the windows default is 8KB and the drivers assume that so
it is possible that you can run into trouble. It may not happen, but it
may.
So, use it as is, and maybe have to put up with random crashes, or
recompile. The linux default now seems to be 8K, and there is a config
variable called " CONFIG_4KSTACK" which configures a 4K rather than 8K
stack.( on 2.6.8.1) HOw to do 16K I do not know.
