My server insists on complex passwords. It sits next to me on the floor. I
don't need it to monitor my password construction. How do I turn that off?

Hello JimS,

Is it a domain controller? Then check the domain policy, but if you change
the password policy it will have effect for the COMPLETE domain, not possible
to do it for one special account or OU without any 3rd party software. In
server 2008 it will be possible to configure different password policies.

Best regards

My server is not only the domain controller, it's the only server in the
domain. I found a tree of policies that referenced requiring complex
passwords and disabled it, but they still seem to be required.

You will probably need to modify both the domain security policy and the
domain controller security policy.
