What is incompatible with Windows XP SP2 is frontend software, however if
you use the native configuration utilities in XP, you'll be fine. The newer
drivers for Microsoft routers/base stations are available here:

Make sure Wireless Zero Configuration is turned on and running in Control
Panel/Administrative Tools/Services, and use that to configure your machine
for the network.
