I have a Linksys 8 port router linking my home network to my cable modem
(Comcast). I also have an Orinoco RG-1100 wireless gateway attached
(configured as a bridge not a router). Whenever the Orinoco RG is attached
to the network, I get recurring (once or twice) interruptions in my internet
connectivity that last about 5 minutes. All connectivity to the internet is
lost and I cannot even communicate with the router control panel (trying to
browse to 192.168.1.1).
After 5 minutes, connectivity is restored and the status page on the Linksys
router will show the lease on the IP address from Comcast has been renewed
(set to 3 days, 59 minutes and xx seconds). Through trial and error, I've
found that if I disconnect the RG the problem disappears. I've already
replaced the Linksys box (it also happened with the BEFSR41) and Orinoco
sent a replacement RG to try - same thing happens. Now, I just have finger
pointing from the two tech support groups. Anyone else ever seen anything
like this?
