My default "Comcast" gateway is sending packets to my system as
127.0.0.1 : 80 -----> xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx : 14xx

Basically, WTF? and anyone else seeing this in their logs?

Comcast says it is normal network traffic . So i told them loopback
traffic should not be seem on the network.

No, I've never seen that in my logs.

Lotsa luck getting hold of anyone at Comcast who has the expertise to
address this problem. Probably best just to ignore it.

Somebody else on your street is fucking with you. If it causes no harm
why not just ignore it?

and keep in mind that you share on your LAN everybody else in your
neighborhood. You do not have an independant line into comcast.
Your neighbor's packets are seen on your network as if they were
wired onto your LAN.

It is my Comcast gateway that is f'ed up. I cross referenced the MAC
address of 127.0.0.1 and it resolves to the IP of my gateway Comcast
assigns. So Comcast's gateway box is broadcasting and (almost ) port
scanning me. I could ignore it, but what if the gateway is hacked? Could
someone redirect the node traffice to their machine and bounce back to the
gateway? YES and that is my concern (along with others). Gonna agree with
the first response, however, cuz the security team said it was normal
traffic! What a joke!

what? I would have expected the cable modem to filter out non-broadcast
messages, not forward them.

Well we been posting on broadbandreports.com about this garbage for a
while now. Its my personal opinion that comcast pushed a bad config out
the modems and has them dong something stupid.

My modem WAN light does not light, but the LAN RECV light does. This is
traffic originating with the cable modem. I have a motorola. Didn't
used to do this. Does nto seem to slow my traffic, but have you ever
felt the heat coming off the modem...
