Hello, We are trying to join two seperate networks. One is a workgroup(10.x
and one is a full domain(192.x). the workgroup has novell authentication and
the domain is win2k3. We need the novell workgroup to access resourses on the
2k3 domain. Both have there own internet pipes and routers. We have a fiber
connection from the 2k3 to a hub were the novell is. We tried to connect hub
to hub and were able see some resources if the cleint was plugged into the
192.x side but when going to the 10.x with the client it could not see the
192.x resources . From my desk(192.x) i was able to see novell resources on
the 10.x but could not ping any of them. Please help. I would love to combine
into one but need suggestions.

Given that you are running your networks on the same layer 2 network (or
appear to be from what you stated) the easiest solution is to add a 192.x
address to your 2k3 server (on the same interface as your 10.x) and then set
up your routers on each side to point to that 2k3 server for the non-local
network the router is in. You will have to do something to allow the novell
workgroup to authenticate against the domain configuration but that is a
different issue.

You can also pick up a L3 switch or have a switch that support dot1q vlans
up to your routers but if you don't work on that sort of gear on a regular
basis get a consultant to help you with that design.

Have you considered consolidating the networks to one net block and Internet
feed? Much easier to manage.

The way I'm reading it, the server has 2 adapters - one on each network? If
this is the case, all you have to do is enable routing on the server; and
configure the clients or their default gateway router with a static route to
the other network. Actually acessing resources may invlove more than that,
but routing will give you connectivity.

Actually it it 2 totally different networks. 10.x is the novell that has
machines all in 1 workgroup. The 10.x is a network we are trying to integrate
into our existing 192.x network. On 192.x is a wiin2k3 Domain Controller and
also a seperate 2k3 exchange server and some other app servers as well. What
we are trying to do is provide the novell workgroup network access to our
Windows Server Apps on the 192.x network. right now there is now connection
between the 10.x and 192.x kind of look at it as the scenario of one company
taking and merging/taking over another but in our case it is the same company
with 2 different IT Departments and one is taking control being the 192.x. We
have a pysical fiber link and hub into the building housing the 10x network.
We now our 192.x hub there is good because we have a static device that runs
off it now. What would be the best way to take the workgroup 10.x novell
network and bring it into our main 192.x network short of just completely
reconning the building and changing everything. We are trying to appease both
sides.

As Doug suggested, you need to have a device of some sort which has an
interface in both networks to act as a router. Because each network has an
Internet link you will need extra routing to get the local traffic to the
internal router.

To link teo subnets without Internet access is simple. You just point
all machines to the router as default gateway. eg

10.0.0.x dg 10.0.0.1
|
10.0.0.1 dg blank
router
192.168.1.1 dg blank
|
192.168.1.x dg 192.168.1.1

If the subnets have Internet access this fails, because the machines use the
Internet router as their default gateway, and traffic for the other "local"
subnet doesn't ever get to the internal router. You need extra routing to do
that. eg

Internet
|
10.0.0.1 (static route 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 10.0.0.254)
router
|
10.0.0.x dg 10.0.0.1
|
10.0.0.254 dg blank
internal router
192.168.1.254 dg blank
|
192.168.1.x dg 192.168.1.1
|
192.168.1.1 (static route 10.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 192.168.1.254)
router
|
Internet
