COM Port Failure

Since I started using my wireless network, my COM Port is no longer
available.

I have Linksys equipment, with a wireless network usb adapter installed on
my machine.

It's an older Pentium II operating with Windows 98 (first offering).

Before installing the equipment, I used a Garmin gps receiver connected by
cable to the COM port to transfer data between the receiver and the mapping
software on the computer.

I was able to install the software on another computer. However, that was at
work and I'm no longer working...so the software works, and used to work on
my own computer.

Is there anything in the settings of the Linksys software that should be
changed to prevent this?

I'm computer challenged :-(

Thanks in advance for your help.
