We need keep a record that contains only the host name and mac address for
the wired ethernet NIC of every machine joined to our Windows 2003 domain and
save it to a text file

What is the easiest way to accomplish this?

Hello MyGposts,

See the last entry in:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/scr...6/hey0124.mspx

You have to find a scripting solution, so i suggest using the scripting NG
instead of this one.

Also try:

I have been looking for something that no one seems to have, yet I cannot
believe that no-one has made it. I want a utility that will:

1. Map the ports on my switches
2. Tell me the MAC on each port
3. Show the IP address
4. Show the DNS name.

Solar winds and a couple of other companies have created the switch mapper
which will show the last MAC, but unless the computer is on it does not map
the IP address and most of the time it does not map the DNS name. Same with
the GFI tool. It seems that once you have the hard part of mapping the
switch ports, reverse looking up the IP address off the DHCP server and
mapping the DNS name would be easy.

I believe Retina will do it, as well as another one that is quite expensive,
which performs intrusion analysis as well, but the name eludes me at this
time. If I remember, I'll post back.
