Hi,

I have created an cname for a server on my network on my 2003 domain. I
cannot map a drive using the cname alias but i can with the normal fqdn of
the particular server.

I get an error "duplicated name exists on the network". I can resolve the
alias ok to an ip address. Is it not possible to map a drive using an alias?

Thanks

Hi,

You can disable strict name checking on the server to allow connections
using the CNAME.

use the following article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...B;EN-US;281308

As long as SP3 or above is installed, you do not need the hotfix.

Thank you,
