All our clients (XP SP2) have been losing connections to the network. All is
needed is to click repair on the NIC and all is fixed for a while, but
eventually it will drop off again. Usually after logging off.

There is no indication of loss of connectivity given by XP, and the internet
and intranet seem to be working fine, but file sharing or printing will not
work until repaired.

any ideas?

You might try increasing the default timeout [15 minutes] for idle time
connection and at least temporarily disable requiring smb signing in the
appropriate security policy such as Domain Controller Security Policy for
domain controllers or Local Security Policy for domain servers. It could
also be done at the domain/OU level depending on your needs and domain
configuration. To disable forcing of smb signing change the setting for
Microsoft network server:digitally sign communications(always) to DISABLED.
These settings are security options under security settings/local
policies/security options. --- Steve
