Hi,

I have a new Windows 2003 network with a Windows 2003 domain controller, one
file server and 4 windows xp desktop clients.

All of the clients can see both servers, however, the clients can not see
one another.

I can ping both servers by name or ip and get a response. However, I can
not ping by ip or name workstations. The servers can't see the clients
either.

Any ideas? It seems like something is blocking it on the server somewhere?

- Jeff

Sounds more like something on the clients. Make sure NetBIOS is enabled and
the XP Firewall is configured to allow File and Printer Sharing and ICMP
echo.

Thanks Doug, I'll give it a try.

But im curious. If these client settings are the issue, wouldn't they also
affect me seeing the servers? I can ping my servers by ip and name, I just
can do that to other clients on the network.

Thanks.

No. If the firewall on the client is the issue, it will be blocking incoming
traffic, not outgoing. Therefore, you can be on a client with the firewall
enabled and ping the server successfully. If you tried to ping the client
from the server, you would fail because of the client's firewall.
