Here's the situation, Yesterday we were able to log onto our server (we have
widowns small business server 2003) but for some reason we can't today. Can

No ideas without better details. You need to be specific,..."can't log on"
can mean a lot of things. You can see your network and know what you
have,...we can't see it and have no idea what you have :-)

okay, win2k3 sbs, 4 client computers with windows xp. Can't get server
resources, (i.e. exchange, shares). Can however ping the server by ip
address, and do get internet access. but cannot ping by computer name. We
have internal IP Setup with DSL/Cable router with public ip. We have the
Public IP on the Router setup to DMZ our server. Any help would be
appreciated. if you need anything else let me know. Still working on it.

Dan

Ok, let's simplify it somewhat and dig a little deeper. Forget the DSL
Cable Router it is not relevant. These questions may not seem
important,...but they are....

SBS with ISA or without ISA?

One Nic SBS Server?....or.....
Two Nic SBS Server, routing only, no NAT?...or....
Two Nic SBS Server, running NAT with RRAS?

What kind of DMZ (ti-homed or Back2Back)? How is it created?...How is it
positioned with respect to the client machines and SBS?

What do the Clients use as their DNS Server Setting in their Network config?
What does the SBS use as the DNS Server Setting in its Network config?
Is WINS use?
Is DHCP in use? If yes, it is the SBS box or the DSL Device?

If you have a JPG diagram of the network, excellent,...attach it or give a
web link to it,...if you don't have one then don't worry about it.
