Hi folks,

I am trying to use to use the dialup internet service provided by
the www.click4prepaid.com phone card. I have successfully setup
several PPP scripts with other ISPs, but I am having trouble
with click4prepaid.

Before I create my PPP script, I need to login manually via
minicom to see what strings are expected.

The session goes like:

User Access Verification

Username:
Password:

% Authentication failed.

Where I did enter my username and password (not shown above, of course)
as given to me by click4prepaid.

The question I have is what are some possible reasons
why authentication is failing with the above error message?
Click4prepaid's tech support leaves something to be desired.

1. I have checked the username and password several
times - they both consist 100% of digits and are not case
sensitive.
2. I am not using the phone card account at the same time
I attempt to login - click4prepaid said not to use
the card will calling their 1-888 access number.
3. There does not appear to be other query strings or binary
responses that would indicate that any other field is required.

Is the "% Authentication failed." string solely indicative
of a bad username/password combo or can other things cause it?
i.e., PAP/CHAP etc.

Click4prepaid's tech support stated:

"Our dialup is set to work with PPP connection using
regular authentication. ... Also, you should be able to
log on with either PAP or CHAP."

Any advice would be much appreciated,

Thank you,

Mike Shell
