Hi,

Ive just started renting a new flat and have been looking about for the
cheapest / fastest BB deal - Iam considering ukonline 8mb @ 29.99, f2s 'upto
8mbit @27.99' or plusnet £21.99

I have to say Im pretty confused about plusnet,Ive read things about free
upgrades etc does a free upgrade mean there is not a fee to upgrade, but
your monthly bill increases - or does it mean properly free i.e 21.99 for
8mbit as it seems to be saying it costs 39.99 at the moment.
The proposed Bandwidth allowances dont seem to be mentioned on the site
either; the way I read it is that you can have as high a speed as you like,
but the different pricing structures reflect the amount of GB's you can d/l.
Is this understanding correct??

f2s is similar, is it a one off £15 charge to upgrade to 8mbit or and extra
£15 per month?! Ive looked up my exchange address (glasgow douglas) and its
about 1.1miles away from my flat according to google? can I assume full
8mbit speed availability?

What would you recommend?
Thanks for any advice
Tom

If you are in a Telewest area you can soon ( Starting Sept) get 2M/256k for
£17.99 UNCAPPED
Or 4M /384k for £ 25 UNCAPPED ( excluding any sign-up discounts)

a) there is nothing faster than 2000 kbps from Plus.Net at present, but a
number of comments have been about the free regrade (from 500 or 1000 to
2000, if the customer's line will handle it) and then for the prices that
are shown, anyone who changes will have it done free if the monthly fees
go up, or pay an admin fee (of 14.99) if the monthly fee comes down.

The trials of 4000 and 9000 are still running and expec services from BTW
and therefore from Plus.Net in 2006. The people paying 29.99 and 39.99
will be regraded to higher speeds when they are availale (and the way I
read it, would pay no more than 29.99 / 39.99 even if the prices for the
services are (by then) a bit more costly. I think there's little point
in them having menion of the higher speeds on the website until the BT
trials are nearly complete!

As things stand on Premier at 21.99 you could have total traffic (up and down)
of 100 GB. If it's not enough, 150 would cost 29.99 and 200 would cost 39.99
(also, if you left within 12 months you'd be charged the full 50 +VAT fee,
and in each 12 month period after that, the fee reduces by 20%). Peter.

The F2S charge is one off - F2S will put you on the fastest possible
speed for the same price per month. 8Mb, uncapped for £25 isn't bad, is
it? Even the cheaper capped packages might be okay for you. I've used
F2S for years, and have never had a problem. My router has been online
for 60 days solid now, and hasn't dropped the connection once!
