Cisco Course........ FeedBack

Started cisco today, just wondering if anyone else did it while Not
working within I.T or affiliated with network or networking people.

I can see it is going to be intense, and I have no background in networking
at all, am strictly doing it solo from the chair I am sitting on.

I have managed to grab a couple of computers other than 'this' one, each
with a different o/s on them. (mine is 98se dual xp; the others are seperate
98se, a seperate xp, and a seperate 2000...... hopefully I'll learn how
to network them all together, providing I can afford what is needed.)
Would be interested in tips/hints from anyone similar.

Ian,
I took it through school and it was still pretty intense. I would
just suggest getting the actual books the accompany the material. It
is a hard class but it's worth your time to get a CCNA.

Thanks for feedback Jami......
When you say 'school', are you telling me that school kids do this as
their norm' nowadays? I guess I shouldnt be flabaghasted, its the way
the world is now........... just wasnt when I was a kid.

I have paid for the appropiate books, just waiting for them to come in via
my campus, but I dont think I'll see one for at least 10 days.

Back to my point, is there anything I should focus on more predominantly
than other things.... or should I just take it as it comes.
Getting this type of info from ppl who have already done it would seem to
me to be a step in the right direction.

Howdy Ian! Sorry it took me so long to get back. When I say school I
meant college. My high school offered it but it wasn't until several
years after I graduated. I think they still do. I guess just really
make sure you get your fundamentals down before progressing to harder
material. My college wasn't the best and I think if maybe they would
have focused more on making sure people understood fundamentals more
people would have done better with Cisco Courses. You may want to pick
up some really basic books if you don't already have a general idea of
how networking works. You might get kinda lost otherwise. Hope that
helps ya!
