So I've got a dell inspiron 4000 for which I need a wifi pcmcia card
without the bulge. this is necessary becasue at the same time I'll
have a USB 2.0 pcmcia card that will take up room with its bulge.
I'm just a home user with a linksys wireless B router. Certainly I'd
like to be able to connect to wireless hot spots when I'm out and
about as well. I was hoping for some guidance choosing between the
"office connect" model and the more expensive 3CRWE62092B. From
reading the 3com product page, it looked like the more expensive card
had some extra security and power saving capabilities when the antenna
is retracted. Perhaps even some sleep mode compatibility where the
"office connect" model may be defficient in that regard?
My main goal is reliability of wifi connection. and I'm willing to
pay for battery conservation and sleep mode compatibility. Are there
any advantages b/n the cards in that department?
Here are the two in question.
3Com® 11 Mbps Wireless LAN PC Card*with XJACK® Antenna
Product #: 3CRWE62092B
3Com® OfficeConnect® 11Mbps Wireless LAN PC Card with XJACK® Antenna
Product #: 3CRSHPW196
I'm not looking to double my cost without reason, but if there is a
compelling reason to get the a/b/g combo card, I could also do that.
3Com® 11a/b/g Wireless PC Card with XJACK® Antenna
Product #: 3CRPAG175
Thanks in advance for input / advice
