CHecksum errors, dropped frames - one direction only

I'm running Win XP pro on a workstation inside the network firewall - remote
connecting in "My network places" to a Win 2K3 server outside the firewall.
I can open a connection & see the server's drives/folders. I can copy files
form the server to my workstation (inbound), nad it works OK (if a little
slow). But when I try to go the other way (outbound) it gets REALLY slow,
with large numbers of dropped frames.
I ran a network monitor session on it, and captured some of the traffic (a
short CAP file is attached). 63 of the 100 frames in this CAP file have
checksum errors.

Any idea what could cause such a high rate of checksum errors - in only one
direction?

It's probably a duplex error. Try making the switch to be static 100 full. If
you don't have that option try doing it on the workstation.

Thanks for the reply. The server's network adapter was already set that way;
I changed the workstation to match - but I still have the same problem.
Trouble is, there are at least two firewalls and maybe a dozen connections
between the two - is there something I can tell my net support to look for
in troubleshooting this?

set it back to auto on both sides then. At this point it's just good old
fashioned detective work. you need to inch your way across all those
connections to find the issue. Might just start by hooking up a pc to the
same switch as the server and then copy the files and go from there. But if
you are getting dropped frames it's got to be network related. Maybe a nic or
a duplex error. Try checking around for half duplex setting that causes a lot
of the time.
