We have a domain in our office ( domain.com )
We have 3 windows XP workstations members of the domain where the
domain controller is a windows 2003 server

Now I installed a server 2003 operating system on a new workstation
and want it to be a member server
I'm trying to change from workgroup to domain but it does not let me
I created a user that is in Administrators group on the member server
machine

I also created an account for it in the domain server in the server
computers section
I tried the " http://domainserver/connectcomputer " wizard but it did
not work

I also tried to computer name >> change but it does not work

what em I doing wrong ?

domain.com
The network location can not be reached. For information about network
troubleshooting, see windows help"

In order to "find" the domain a server or client must be pointed to the DNS
server for the AD domain.

Just guessing but it may be that you are manually configuring your clients
with an IP address, DNS server, and gateway instead of using DHCP. If this
is the case you need to manually input the IP address of the DNS server for
your AD domain, in the properties of TCP/IP for DNS.

AD must have a DNS server for the AD domain *usually* it's the AD server.

What server are you using for DNS?

Run IPconfig /all on one of the clients already on the domain and view the
DNS server IP address. If it is a DNS server on your AD domain, use that DNS
IP address on the client you are trying to add to the domain. If it is not a
server on your domain you have DNS setup wrong.

The member server that I'm trying to join the domain with has dynamic
IP and I can get on line with it via the router

I don't run any services on the member server
another word I have selected no to all server roles
