Changing Subnet

I have a dual-homed Win2K3 Server that has to have some changes in the
subnets on each NIC.

I'd like some pointers to a proper procedure for doing this to a
production server so that there's no sizable interruption in service.

Basically, I have to add a SOHO router on the WAN side and I have to
create a static route to a NEW router on the LAN side. The NEW router
on the LAN side will access ONLY clients on the LAN.

The static route is not really a problem for me but I'd like to change
the subnet on the LAN side. I HAVE to change the subnet on the WAN
side.

All pointers, suggestions, how-to papers welcome.
Thanks,

Bilbo

Bilbo,

I need a bit of information- first of all are using NAT- you mention a SOHO
router (i assume NAT is there but i want to make sure). What is the internal
network ID (the LAN side)? Is there only one LAN? or do you have others?
Do you have any restrictions on what the new network ID can be for the link
between the two routers (SOHO + Windows MH) ?

This could be done with limited trouble but I would recommend after hours if
Internet access is critical.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the come-back.
Basically, they want to put in a WiFi DMZ outside the Server.
Essentially, it's a "guest" hot-spot that has no LAN access. Their
Internet access is currently via Cable-Modem.

Also, there's a proprietary application needs to be added that will
have LAN access that runs Frame-Relay on a fractional T-1 Cisco
router. Actually, the static route for this application is the
simplest part of all but I do need to change the LAN network address.
It's currently 192.168.0.0 and I need to change it to 192.168.31.0.

There's only one LAN but I'm concerned about routing from the new LAN
address to the WAN interface. The server is extremely resource
limited -- ie, 384MB RAM, 20-40GB HDD. It even has an Exchange Server
running on it. NO, it's NOT SBS! And NO, I didn't configure it.

I'm still finding out things about it.

After hours IS do-able.

Thanks again,
Bilbo
