I have seen a number of articles that indicate that
turning off the SSID broadcast does nothing much
for you security wise and is a potential problem from
the standpoint that anyone else looking for a clear
channel to set their network up on does not see you
so they land there stomping on your network. If
you google for "disable ssid" there are a number of
articles explaining why that is not quite as good an
idea as it sounds.
