Changing MN-500 to new server

My MN-500 WAS connecting a laptop with my old e-tower
running on Windows 98. It was a great setup, but I need
to make a change. Now that my year old HP has come back
from the computer hospital after 4 months
(grrrr...hp.grrrr) I want to put it upstairs where the e-
machine was and have all three machines connected.
Since the DLS has to connect to the network router, it
pretty much means the HP (if it is going to be placed by
the DSL line) will need to be the server--right? I
bought a notebook adapter for the laptop (probably a
better choice anyway), since I figure I'll need the usb
connector that came with the kit for the e-machine. What
I need to know is...am I thinking this through right? Do
I need to delete the network settings from the e-machine
and do a clean install on the HP? Anything special I
should watch out for? Any good advice is appreciated.

Actually, once the router is running, there is no concept
of server -- all computers are equal. The computer wired
to port 1 was just used to configure the router (the
router is a computer per se). You don't even need to have
a computer wired to the base station once it is running.

So, you don't need to uninstall any settings from the
eMachines, but you need to: (a) install the adapter in
the eMachines, and (b) configure the HP to access the
network. You can use the CD for this (add a computer to
the LAN, instead of reinstalling the router), or the HP
might already be set for this (try connecting the cable
and see what happens).
