hello
From experience how long are you 'normally' without an ADSL connection when
you cancel one ISP to start with another?

If the service you are on and the one you are moving to are both IPStream,
then you should contact your current provider for a MAC key, and then give
this to the provider you wish to go with, should take up to 10 days to switch
over, you maybe without connection for around 30 minutes.

When you switch to your new provider you will do so at the same speed as your
current provider, you would then need to request a speed increase if this is
what you wanted.

If you are switching from a DataStream product to an IPStream one you have to
cancel your first provider, and inform your new provider, you could be waiting
a couple of weeks before you are back up and running and will be with out your
service for this time.

And if your BT exchange happens to be at full capacity you might find
another customer "pounces" on your slot in the DSLAM when you cancel and
you have to wait even longer for a DSLAM upgrade :-(

In which case, may be worth a look at <http://www.samknows.com/> which may
indicate whether there is a chance the exchange has a full DSLAM. Peter M.

PlusNet <http://tinyurl.com/24ymz> - I recommend them and save some cash.

My other ISP : UK Free Software Network <http://www.ukfsn.org>
UKFSN passes all profits to Free Software projects in the UK.
