I have been through the process of moving from Central Point recently and
the short answer is that you can't migrate from a Datastream product.

At the moment there is no facility for migration from a Datasteam product,
although there are some proposals in the pipeline. The answer is to cease
the Central Point service and pay for a "new" connection with your new ISP

Central point can "disconnect" you within 24 hours and advise BT your line
is no longer to be ADSL enabled (although you will have to pay the
remainder of the 28 days notice period) As soon as BT are told, they
remove the ADSL signal but it takes a couple of days for their database to
be updated and show your line as once more "available" for ADSL. At this
point, you can then go to another ISP (I chose Plusnet) and they order a
new ADSL connection for you which takes about 7 - 10 days to be installed.

For me, the whole process took 11 days.

Hope this helps.

I thought some ISPs such as Plusnet were doing or trialling migration
from Datastream ISPs.

It's a bit of luck to find a DataStream ISP that is clued up, or perhaps
willing, to issue a MAC. Tiscali seems to finally be getting close to
doing this, according to a recent post/website article. Peter M.
