Here is the question. I have just setup a new domain. The reason for this
the company I work for has split. So I have the original server and now a
new server. I need to change the domain name of the computers that will be
connecting to the new server. I did a test and when I do it changes the
users desktop icons and everything. Is there a way to change the domain
without messing everything up. I am ready to go live with the new server and
didn't realize this would happen. Thank you for any help.

Active Directory Migration Tool (ADMT)

It can be downloaded from MS. There is a lot of documentation, a lot of
scenarios, and just simply different ways to approach it. You have to
choose the best one that fits you,...and you pretty much have to get it
right the first time. Download and read the documentation and make sure you
understand it.

Other than using the ADMT you could do it manually by first
logging on to the member server / workstation with the domain
account and letting the default profile directory be created.
Next you copy the contents of the old profile to the new profile.
That is of course if you don't have very many users. Another
method involves poking the registry to point towards the old
profile.

Do you know where in the registry you make that change? I really appreciate
your help on this.
