I have an MN-700 setup in router mode on my home network. My laptop works
fine, however my PC seems to have issues. Most of the time it is not
accessible on my network, although I can still access the internet via my
pc. The pc can ping my laptop without fail, however my laptop can not ping
my pc. The PC can access shared folders on my laptop, but the reverse does
not work. I have never had any software based firewalls on my pc, and the
XP personal firewall is disabled. I don't have internet connection sharing
enabled on my pc. I have updated the firmware on my router without luck.
But every once in a while it will work for a day or so.... does anyone
help? One other thing I have noticed is that I can not download via FTP
either. I guess the FTP server can't do a reverse connection necessary for
this type of download. I challenge you to help find a solution to this?

For FTP, you need to open the ports on the router, under
security/port forwarding -- an app-triggered port will
do. The server must also be in passive mode (not active)
if that applies.

Not so... My laptop can access the very same ftp downloads on the same web
page.

I found the problem. I am running Cisco VPN software on both systems. It
installed a network enhancer in my network connection settings which must
have interfered with my MSI PCI Wireless NIC in my PC, but not the Avaya
PCMCIA card in the laptop.
