I have Centrino notebook and have used PCMCIA
cards with wireless. I have also used USB wireless
units which typically are attached to the end of about
a 6 foot cable.Of course the USB wins, hands down,
because you can orient it for the best signal. The other
two are a toss-up. However, if you can find a special
wireless issue of PC Mag, out this month, it runs tests
on about all of them out to 160 feet. It might be worth
noting that a pair of hams at the latest shoot-out in Vegas
got 32 miles using good antennas. That is the divider
