No - but you may need a CD drive to load drivers for a modem.

No.
You need some way to download the appropriate drivers, and get them
onto your machine.
It may not even require any downloading at all, just setting up.

Generally, if you can get to the makers website then any CDs that come
with your ADSL modem/router may not need to be used, as you can
download the drivers from the makers site.

I guess after an estimated four months of rather "basic" questions regarding
AOL, OSX, Macs, ISP's and now CD drives, you must have made it to long
trousers and joined up writing .....

Try using Google with the search criteria "computers for dummies" and all
your questions will get answered.
