Installing the latest version of the XP driver for the D-Link DWL-650
(Not the Plus model) resulted in multiple BSOD stops 0xD1, 0x2C in
WIndows XP. (BAD_POOL_CALLER, DIRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL). Rolling back
the driver didn't fix it. Also, the connection would go belly-up
every five minutes or so and I'd be informed that "one or more
wireless networks are available" and would have to repeatedly
reconnect.
I suppose that I could have installed the drivers from the original
disk, but I spent thirty bucks at Best Buy and got a Netgear PC card
instead. Works great with my DI-614+ router and I've had no problems
since I made the switch.
Among my adventures in trying to fix this was talking to a tech
support rep who told me to change the fragmentation threshold to "500"
on the router and on the card. The card configuration in Device
Manager wouldn't accept that value (of course).
