Carrot from NTL?

I am moving to BT phone from NTL. Rang NTL to say I want to disconnect
the Cable TV and BB (Set top box) and move to Sky+.

Was told that they can supply me with Cable modem, free wiring and as
a "new" customer, 3 months half price at whichever speed I want.

On their 700k speed, this works out at £22ish per month. Is this a
good offer or should I move to an ADSL ISP.

Only problem I have is that I have a new wireless cable router and do
not want to splash out again. Are there ISPs that can match NTL offer
and give an Ethernet modem?

What sort of cable router. Does it have wired ethernet points?
On many, you can connect an ethernet ADSL modem/router (for example the
~25 quid one port modem/router) to one of the 'local' ethernet ports.

This is a USR cable router where the cable modem from the set top box
connects to the router via Ethernet cable and the router has 4
Ethernet connections at the back for 4 PC connections. Also it has
wireless router functionality..

Ok, even easier.
You just need to swap the cable modem for an ADSL one.

You have lost me. Swapping from STB based modem to standalone NTL
cable modem does not make it ADSL I think. The feed for the NTL modem
will come from the NTL box outside the house rather than the telephone
line.

I think the NTL cable modem (replacement) should still be cable modem.

Sigh, I think I got slightly confused.

Yes, it will be a different (possibly) cable modem.

You might want to consider just ceasing the NTL phone service, and going
for "BT broadband voice" for about 6-7 quid a month, over the internet
wiring.
If I've understood what you mean this time.
