I've been looking at this thread with slight disbelief.
Can I add a User's perspective?
I don't lurk here for fun - I come under duress and
distress. I found Carey's help to be useful - very useful
and has cured (and explained) a problems with one of my
four PCs. I find the confidence in Carey's claim very
helpful - but I recongize it's a claim and not a fact.
I've been away for a bit and only just come back to this -
and will try the direct advice from C D Kuder - although I
think I've already done all this.
So if anyone wants to do any real work and think about my
problems rather than the easy stuff such as slagging-off
helpful people like Carey, that would be appreciated.
To be helpful you have to have the knowledge (of course)
but also the right attitude. Good advice badly given is
no use at all.
I'd really appreciate it if anyone can shed light on why
this PC can been seen with NET VIEW and in Network Places -
but can't be opened - as I'd explained in the thread.
Thanks again Carey - it's been good so far - even if not
100% of things are fixed yet.
